“Birth is not a medical procedure to be managed. It is an unrepeatable threshold where a woman and a child cross into new life together.”

When you step into labor, fear shrinks when familiarity is present. You deserve someone in your room who knows the names of your fears, remembers the rhythm of your breath, and stands as an unwavering pillar of calm beside you and your partner. Here is how we journey together from early pregnancy into the tender postpartum weeks.

Chapter 01 • Prenatal Foundation

Preparation That Feels Like Coming Home

Long before labor begins, we build a foundation of quiet emotional safety and physical instinct in the comfort of your living room.

Our prenatal visits are unhurried conversations over warm tea. We sit on your couch, away from fluorescent clinic lights, and explore what matters to you. We talk through your birth preferences, dissect previous memories, and name the quiet worries you may not have shared with anyone yet.

We actively practice comfort techniques together—pelvic opening positions, rebozo techniques, counterpressure, and breathing rhythms. By the time labor arrives, you won't be trying to remember instructions from a book; your body will already know the way.

What This Looks Like In Practice:
  • In-Person Living Room Prenatals: Unhurried visits dedicated entirely to your family.
  • Hands-On Partner Coaching: Your partner learns exactly where to press and how to anchor you.
  • Local Birth Setting Familiarity: Experienced support for homebirth, birth centers, hospitals (Kadlec Regional, Trios Southridge), or other agreed location.
  • Direct Line Access: Text and phone connection open throughout your pregnancy.
✓ In-Person Living Room Prenatals ✓ Physical Comfort Practice ✓ Partner Confidence Coaching ✓ Birth Preferences Crafting

Chapter 02 • The Sacred Birth Day

A Steady, Familiar Anchor When Waves Begin

When contractions deepen, you don’t call a rotating call center. You call me. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from 37 to 42 weeks.

As early labor begins, we stay in close touch. I help you read early labor rhythms, guide restful positioning, and help you recognize when it is truly time to transition to your birth center, hospital, or prepare your homebirth space.

In the birth space, shift changes happen, nurses rotate, and monitors beep. But my presence is constant. I dim the lights, protect the quiet atmosphere, whisper gentle reminders, apply deep sacral counterpressure, and hold the space so you can surrender to your work. Whether your birth is physiological, epidural-supported, or a gentle cesarean, I guard your dignity and your voice.

What This Looks Like In Practice:
  • 24/7 Urgent On-Call (37–42 Weeks): Exclusively dedicated to your due date window.
  • Continuous In-Person Attendance: Dedicated bedside presence without arbitrary hourly cutoffs, supported by coordinated backup doula coverage if ever required for extended labors.
  • Physical & Emotional Relief: Acupressure, hydrotherapy guidance, vocal toning, and hip opening.
  • The Golden Hour: Staying by your side for 1 to 2 hours after birth for skin-to-skin and latch support.
✓ 24/7 Priority On-Call ✓ Dedicated Bedside Presence ✓ Coordinated Backup Coverage ✓ Golden Hour Protection

Chapter 03 • The Fourth Trimester

The Sanctuary of the Fourth Trimester

After the world offers congratulations and visitors go home, the quiet, tender work of healing truly begins.

Society often asks mothers to “bounce back.” Here, we believe a mother must be mothered. In the tender early days, I arrive at your home with warm presence. You never have to host me, clean up, or pretend you have everything figured out.

We sit together to debrief and honor your birth story. I support you with infant feeding and latch comfort, baby soothing cues, and maternal recovery. I will hold your baby so you can take a hot shower, rest your eyes, and breathe deeply in your sanctuary.

What This Looks Like In Practice:
  • In-Home Postpartum Shifts: 2, 4, or 6 dedicated visits, each lasting 3 hours (matched directly to your package).
  • Birth Story Integration: A compassionate space to speak honestly about how your birth felt.
  • Lactation & Feeding Support: Practical latch guidance, pumping support, or paced bottle-feeding.
  • Whole-Mother Holding: Time to nap, shower, or eat while knowing your baby is safe in experienced arms.
✓ Emotional Birth Debriefing ✓ Lactation & Feeding Guidance ✓ Rest & Shower Respite ✓ Herbal & Physical Recovery

What Families Say About The Birth Era Care

“

After hours of labor with my first baby, I ended up needing an emergency C-section. Recovery was overwhelming, especially while trying to navigate breastfeeding as a first-time mom.

Rebecca was there for me during that postpartum period, helping me through breastfeeding challenges, preparing meals, and making sure I had the support I needed while recovering and adjusting to motherhood.

She has a way of making you feel comfortable, supported, and cared for without judgment. It was such a relief having someone I trusted who understood what I was going through.

Now that I’m expecting my second baby, I have already secured my due date for her services. Having someone you can count on during such a vulnerable time makes all the difference.

A Dedicated Word For Partners

You Don’t Have to Carry the Whole Mountain Alone.

Often, partners worry that hiring a doula means they will be pushed into the corner. The truth is the exact opposite.

You love your partner more than anyone in that birth room. But birth is an intense marathon, and it is impossible to be her emotional lover, medical note-taker, physical counterpressure provider, and water runner for 18 straight hours without feeling exhausted or helpless.

Having me in the room frees you to do what only you can do: look into her eyes, hold her hand, whisper love into her ear, and experience the birth of your child with wonder instead of panic. When you need a break to eat or step outside, you know she is never alone.

Never Replaced Your bond is the sacred center. I am here to elevate you, not take your place.
Always Supported You receive steady cues and quiet reassurance throughout the entire labor.

Before our birth, I was terrified I wouldn’t know what to do when contractions got intense. Having Rebecca there felt like having a calm lighthouse in the room. I was able to just be a loving husband without carrying all the panic.

A Personal Letter

From My Heart to Yours

Dear expectant parent,

As a mother of four and someone whose daily life is rooted in the quiet rhythm of our 5-acre homestead, I have witnessed birth in all its raw vulnerability, beauty, and intensity.

I know that the weeks leading up to your due date can bring a mixture of deep wonder and quiet overwhelm. You may be wondering who will be in the room with you, whether your voice will be heard, and how you will navigate the unpredictable hours of labor.

I created The Birth Era Co. so that no family in the Tri-Cities ever has to cross that sacred threshold feeling alone, unheard, or unsupported. When I walk into your birth room, I bring quiet calm, steady hands, and an unshakeable belief in your body's wisdom.

I would be honored to hold space for your story.

With warmth, Rebecca Sullivan Founder • The Birth Era Co.
Common Curiosities

Quiet Answers to Your Sacred Questions

Everything you need to know about welcoming a doula into your family’s birth story.

What if I plan to get an epidural or need medical pain relief?

Doulas are for every kind of birth. If you choose an epidural, our support simply shifts. We help you labor comfortably at home before traveling to the hospital, support relaxation during epidural placement, use peanut balls and side-lying positions to keep your pelvis open, and ensure you remain mentally grounded, calm, and empowered throughout the pushing phase.

When does your 24/7 on-call coverage begin?

Formal urgent labor on-call begins at 37 completed weeks of pregnancy and continues until your baby arrives (up to 42 weeks). During this window, my phone ringer stays on high 24 hours a day, my birth bag is packed, and I do not travel outside the local Tri-Cities area.

What if my labor lasts 20 or 30 hours? Do you ever leave?

Continuous birth support means dedicated bedside care without arbitrary hourly cutoffs. Once active in-person support begins, I remain with you through labor, birth, and the golden hour postpartum. If an exceptionally prolonged labor requires a brief rest period for safety, an arranged backup doula can provide support through a seamless handoff, ensuring your care is continuous and never abandoned.
